Phone Book Recycling Program

Clean outdated phone books can be delivered to either the Northern or Southern Recycling Centers year round. Municipal collection programs are usually conducted from July through late September each year to coincide with the delivery of new phone books. Telephone directories provide information on collection locations for recycling phone books. For more information, contact your municipal recycling coordinator or the Ocean County Solid Waste Management Hotline at 1-800-55-RECYCLE.

Scrap Tire Management Program

Since the County received a recent tire grant from NJDEP, it is currently offering this program, which includes FREE tire drop-off at the County's Recycling Centers.  The County has waived the $1 drop-off fee during this program.  Homeowners, municipalities and retirement communities are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to clean up, collect and recycle scrap tires.  The County has contracted with Ocean County Remanufacturing Center, Inc., to recycle and properly discard the tires.  Participants of the program will be asked to prove residency.

Municipalities and retirement communities can bring tires directly to the Ocean County Remanufacturing Center, Inc., Route 9, Dover Township, effective May 2, 2005.

The County's Northern and Southern Recycling Centers will accept tires at no cost from homeowners.  Homeowners will be limited to 20 tires per day effective April 20, 2005.

With this program, the County will continue to accept only automobile and light truck tires.  Rims must be removed. Bicycle, motorcycle or racing tires are not accepted.
